I’m grateful for the perfect sofa shopping experience.
So I thought I found the perfect sofa, five months ago.
I was looking for a sofa for my home. Whenever I’m shopping for seating for my own home, I have a heck of a time deciding. There are just so many options I love, but then I face the realities of living with a messy, busy family in a mostly renovated home. So, the sofas that make my heart skip a beat would just bring emotional trauma when we spilled chocolate or juice or coffee or whatever on it. It would need to be placed under glass, and admired as the art that it is.
The balance between beauty and function is terribly delicate.
And then we have space issues, so a normal length sofa won’t actually fit in our living room if we want anything else to be placed on the floor, or retain the ability to walk around the sofa.
The first ‘perfect sofa’ was dark grey, a perfect color for a messy family. It was in a chesterfield style, which makes me swoon. And it was in-between loveseat and sofa length. Perfect. I ordered it.
After it didn’t arrive one month later, I was told it was backordered. And then another month went by, it was delayed another month. Then another month. Then the company canceled my order, without telling me.
So with the way images haunt me online, the darn sofa was popping up everyday on other websites. I ordered it again from another company. It was backordered. Same saga. It was eventually cancelled again, without telling me. Talk about playing hard to get. I moved on.
Then I saw a tweet about a company called Joybird. The furniture company was having a sale. I looked around online, and fell in love again. The perfect blend of practical, size, and stunning beauty. I ordered a new perfect sofa: a peacock-colored mid-century modern sofa.
Joybird offers a different kind of shopping experience. And while shopping, the design and layout are easy to use, but the special part is what happens after the order is placed. I received a note saying they received my order, which is a typical note. But then they sent updates on the sofa as it was being constructed. They sent a swatch so I could see and touch the fabric. And they sent a handwritten note, signed by some of the Joybird family, welcoming my family to their family.
I’m in awe.
And I’m addicted to online shopping, so it’s especially delightful, fun, and charming that Joybird goes to this extra effort for their customers.
I don’t doubt that I will always go to Joybird.com before I look anywhere else the next time I need to order furniture.
