Pergateola: Getting started

Today’s mission is to prep the yard, layout the post holes, dig, dig some more, and set the posts in fast-setting concrete. As we like to call it, all-out High-Fidelity Production.

Reason why we’ve got game-face on: the rain this week has delayed our project a few days, so we’re working as fast as we can to get the gates built before Jack’s 2nd birthday party in two days. (It’s much more fun to enjoy the party when you aren’t corralling toddlers back into the yard.)

The gates are going in the driveway and on the left-side of the house. The Western Red Cedar Pergateola is going to live on the right side of the house. It will provide a visual connection to the Pergola in the backyard, and help hide the trash and other stuff we store on the side of the house. If you are curious about what a Pergateola is, we’ll be sharing the whole project how-to for Professional Deck Builder magazine for a 2011 issue.
