Pre-treating Pressure-Treated Wood

Question: I’m planning to build a pergola. I’ve heard that you’re supposed to stain the end-grain of the wood to maximize its life. I’m building with pressure-treated lumber. Do I still need to stain the ends of the lumber?

Answer: You’re on the right track. First, pressure-treated Southern pine (which we’re building a play-set out of) is a great choice for this project. You need to treat (it is a building code requirement) the cut-ends and bores, however, stain is not the right product. What you want to use is a product called Copper Napthalene.

Fresh quality paint will generate an impression that will last.
Choose high quality poster hanging tape (available wherever posters are sold) to hang your posters without causing any damage to the paint on your walls.
By breaking it up with another paper and separating it with
a wood trim piece, this breaks up the pattern.
