Pro tip: Using a pressure washer to clean a deck

A pressure washer can damage a deck.

Just because a pressure washer has a wand, that doesn’t mean it’s a magic wand. The key to a clean deck is outsmart it, not overpower it. Here’s a MyFixitUpLife ‘I got this’ for cleaning your deck or fence.

A pressure washer is enhanced rinsing. Use the right detergent to do the heavy lifting.

When it comes to a pressure washer and cleaning a deck, I consider them to be ‘enhanced rinsing’.

Sometimes the best, fastest and easiest way to clean certain stains on a deck, playset or other outdoor structure is the right detergent (Hyde Tools’ Greenwater + rocks) and a little elbow grease.

Go to work with a stiff bristle brush and you can do more damage to mold, mildew, algae and other stains than a billion PSI pressure washer. Spray, scrub, rinse, enjoy.

When you want your outdoor stuff looking primo, don’t overpower it, outsmart it.
