Door color: Put the color you love on your front door

Our front door in Loch Blue by Sherwin-Williams.

Door color is a favorite way to express ‘you-ness.’

Are you thinking about door color? We are.

Color is a tool, and art. We show our personal style and express ourselves in color everyday with our socks, hair, car, and coffee mug.

Your entryway holds the possibilities to express the color you love to the people you love.

The color options for doors are as endless as the colors in the universe. Who hasn’t spent an afternoon looking at all the samples at the home improvement center, fantasizing about the color for the living room or bedroom? It’s fun to think about our personal spaces and expressing ourselves, making over the previous owner’s ‘what-were-they-thinking’ choices.

And it’s fun to look through the rainbow to find that color for an entry door.

While there are fixed features, like your roof, your brickwork, or neighbors to consider when running through the rainbow, almost any color can work, as long as you pick the tone of that color that goes with the other tones on your home. For example, blue can have green or brown or red undertones. Same with all other colors. Look down the options and spin the wheel to find them.

And if you’re shopping for a new door…

We can’t help but recommend an energy efficient door. It’s the smart reason to upgrade your entryway. Combined with the perfect color, your smile and money savings will pay you back everyday.

To get started dreaming, here are a few door color ideas from our friends at Therma-Tru. All of the paint colors are from Sherwin-Williams, which is the paint used in the factory at Therma-Tru. And they just added these new door styles to the line, giving even more options to express personal style on your home.
