Roof Question

Question: I need a new roof on my house. And even though I do a lot of projects myself, a roof is too much. So since I’m paying for it, my question is: Can you get a better deal on replacing your roof in fall or spring? Or does it make no difference?

Answer: My answer to this is yes and no. And three.

Installing DaVinci Roofscapes Bellaforte Slate.

Yes. First, I checked with a colleague and the most dialed-in roofer I know at DaVinci Roofscapes. If you are getting prices from dedicated roofing contractors, chances are you will see a price difference based on the time of year you choose to do the work. Fall is generally the worst time to get a new roof for reasons that have nothing to do with roofing or weather as you might expect. Many people wait until the kids go back to school and then try to get the job done before it snows. This puts pressure on the supply side and prices go up. Getting quotes in winter or early spring when roofers are hungry is a much better time.

No. On the other hand, if you select a remodeling company or handyman (if they’ll even look at a roof replacement) their prices will probably be pretty consistent the year through. Its worth pointing out that a remodeler’s core competency isn’t necessarily roofing, so if you have a very steep or complicated roof, make sure they know their stuff and pull a permit.

Three. No matter what kind of company you decide to work with, unless you already have a great relationship with the firm, get three bids and check references, knowing full well that the lowest bid might cost you the most money.
