Sledgehammer it?! Let’s talk demo on MyFixitUpLife talk.

Ready for demo? We’re talking sledgehammers and demo tips on this episode of MyFixitUpLife.

DIY Network host Jason Cameron from the new show “Sledgehammer”

Should you sledgehammer it? Looks like an easy, fun way to rip through all of that unwanted parts of your house, but is it really?

If you’ve ever picked up a sledgehammer and slammed through some demo, you have a strong opinion about it.

We’re talking about the right and wrong ways to demo both inside your home and around your yardscape. Plus, DIY Network host Jason Cameron from the new show “Sledgehammer” takes us behind-the-scenes of that extreme show. If you haven’t seen the promo videos of Jason smashing food, appliances, and a disco ball, head over to DIY Network. It’s worth it.

DIY Network’s ‘Yard Crashers’ host Chris Lambton is talking landscaping and backyard demo. We’ll ask him about his favorite go-to tools, and his tips on digging for footings–in any kind of terrain.

One of our favorite hands-on teacher Allison Oropallo appeared on Season 2 of HGTV All American Handyman and was voted fan favorite. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in k-12 Applied Technology Education and her Master Degree in Curriculum Development. And, she’s a former UCONN Division-I ice hockey player. Allison was deaf until age five when she had multiple surgeries to restore hearing. Not being able to hear sounds for the first five years of life introduced her to hands-on learning early on.

‘Sawdust Girl’ Sandra Powell joins us to share her take on demo, and how she preps for her custom built-ins. From tool tips to building furniture, painting prep to craft projects, Sandra’s blog is full of fun DIY.

We’ll also be taking you outside to talk digging up the dirt and smart demo tips for your landscape.

Come hangout as Mark and Theresa talk demo with Jason Cameron, Sandra Powell and more.

  • It seems like using a sledgehammer for a demolition project would only work well on a small scale. My parents want to take down their shed, so they can make room for some renovations. Would it be possible to do this on your own, or would it be better to hire professionals for a job like that?

  • I don't often think of demolition as taking that much thought. You just grab a hammer, or a back hoe and start knocking things down. It is a good thing I watched your video before I decided to start my own demolition. Thanks for the great advice.
