Are you looking to put add a little spring home decor to your home?

While I’m a fan of bold florals and romantic pops of color, this isn’t about those home decor ideas that pop up annually. It’s about the mechanical spring.

Industrial inspirations have been trendy for a while, and it’s fun to see how designers are continuing to create and use functional elements as ornament.

Lately, we’re seeing home decor makers take inspiration from the coiled spring. As it was invented hundreds of years ago, it was originally created for use in clocks and other mechanical devices. A functional device, the spring makes it possible for many inventions to work without fuss. But its form is what’s interesting to me.

Stripped away from its mechanical nature, and just appreciating the form, it’s a whimsical inspiring shape that can create interesting shadows and bounce light in unique ways.

From light fixtures to fruit holders, the spring home decor items are fun and functional. Also, there are several ways it is fitting for home decor. First, the shape makes it easy to filter light. Next, its shape is perfect for storing round items inside. Last, a spring is scalable and can be any size.

I’ve been spying spring decor offered from a variety of companies lately.

Here are a few of my favorites.
