Superior Walls’ R-5 and Xi foundation systems pass my “Born on the Jobsite” test.
The system was developed by New Holland, Pa., builder Mel Zimmerman who was — like most inventors — frustrated with the status-quo foundation process of building forms, pouring concrete, waiting for cure time, then stripping forms only to have to damp proof or waterproof the stemwall. Zimmerman’s system looks great from a lot of perspectives: design right through installation and customer satisfaction.
Basically, a Superior Wall is a 5,000-psi concrete wall with a built-in steel-stud wall, ready for finishing. Sandwiched between the studs and the ‘crete is a layer of R5 or R12.5 rigid foam insulation.
