While Mark was doing the bulk of the roof replacement project, and I watched from the ground and the aerial lift, I was looking forward to actually getting up on the much-shorter porch roof and take my turn at roofing.
Well, today I got my chance.
The synthetic slate tiles come in a variety of widths and colors, which helped me to focus on the design and forget about the possibility of falling off the roof. After I got started laying out the tiles and nailing them in place, it went fast, and was fun. There are even little circles imprinted on the tiles to let you know where to shoot the nails.
And you know what else I learned? Roofing is a good way to bond with your husband.
