Tools make our lives more beautiful, and it’s ok to use pretty tools

It’s OK to use pretty tools that make you smile and inspire you to use them. Be proud to be pretty, and let yourself love beautiful things.

I know that what is practical isn’t always my first choice. I’ll wear jewelry and a dress or skirt with my workboots while I’m on a job site, finishing a makeover.

It might sound a bit naive or inexperienced, but neither are the case. I wouldn’t wear flip flops. Any kind of footwear that easily comes off, or leaves your toes open to possible hazards isn’t smart. And a skirt is fine if I’m not doing flooring or roof framing. Yes, I could wear oversized t-shirts and sneakers while I’m in our workshop, but that just won’t happen. I wouldn’t feel like me.

Pretty things change my mood, and I like that I can rely on that when I haven’t slept because of an arduous TV makeover deadline.

Same goes with tools.

It’s ok to use tools that are pretty. I know, you might get teased by your husband if your tools are pink or bedazzled. But really, who cares? If the tools work, and you are attracted to them, you are more likely to use them. You probably wouldn’t ask your dad, brother or husband to pick out your make-up or shoes, right?
