Sales of vacant lots are on the rise. According to Realtor.com, 32.4 percent more vacant lots were sold between January and October 2021 than in the same time period during 2020, and they say the increased activity in vacant lots is a result of the tight home sales market.
During the same period, sales for existing homes increased by 13.4 percent and sales for new homes were 7.3 percent less in 2021 than 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
