I made fun and festive little Galentine’s gifts for my friends.
I think Valentine’s day is more than just celebrating my love with my husband with little notes and gifts. It’s about sharing love with kids and friends, so I’m glad for a little Galentine’s day fun, too.
It may be a holiday created by the greeting card industry, but I’m not mad at the reminder to show a little extra affection. February 14th is a day that’s set aside to show that we care. We care for our spouse, kids, pets, friends, and everyone in our lives who brings us a little extra joy.
And Galentine’s day is a perfect excuse to make gifts and share a little crafty time.
Armed with colored paper, punches and scissors from Fiskars, glue, and embellishments, my son Jack and I enjoyed an afternoon making Valentine’s day cards for our friends.
Here’s how I crafted the cards for the gifts.
I decided to make little two-color heart punched cards for my friends. This meant I would eventually double up two different kinds of paper, so the punched heart would be the color of the paper underneath.
To make sure everything lined up, I first folded the paper into fours. Then I punched a heart or more into the outer paper.
After I punched the hearts, I folded the punched paper over the unpunched colored paper.
Now it looks like a little card.
I wrote a little note to each friend on the inside, punched a heart hole in the upper corner so I could tie the card to a mini champagne bottle for my Galentines.
With so many hearts punched out, we got creative making more cards and crafts…
