What’s better than spending a day working on a porch makeover with a talented friend? Seeing that you guys loved what we made.
When Krylon invited Mark and me to do a porch makeover and a deck makeover in a head-to-head competition, I knew it would be fun. And I knew there would be a lot of ‘talk’ from Mark on how much ‘better’ his makeover would be.
It’s a good thing that I make up for my lack of chest thumping with some good old-fashioned hard work. And I had the delight to work on the makeover with the talented and charming Liz Latham from Hoosier Homemade.
As part of the challenge for the porch makeover we had to pick up some garage sale finds to makeover the space. And Krylon supplied us with paint, which was the reason why we could makeover so many projects in one day. Their Krylon ColorMaster Paint + Primer dries in ten minutes, doesn’t need a primer, and works on just about every type of surface from wood to glass to natural fiber.
Here are details on the porch makeover:
We were lucky to be able to buy a natural fiber rug, a wood bar cart, mason jars, a table and chairs for $100.
For the rug, we used a sunburst stripe pattern using Regal Blue and Raspberry Gloss. And because it’s a natural fiber rug, we let the paint set a little bit longer, just to be sure it soaked in perfectly.
We used Raspberry Gloss on the wood table and chairs.
Liz took the lead on stenciling the mason jars for the new light fixture. We used Ballet Slipper, Bright Idea, and Citrus Green.
The bar cart looks slick with Mambo Pink and Black.
Liz and I hope you love our makeover.
