We’ve been spending more time at home than ever before, and the desire to change the view inside our homes has been raging among homeowners and DIYers. Some of us have spent time decluttering, others have been creating home offices in sheds, and then many have turned to paint and décor to enhance and personalize our living spaces.

While paint is the old standby for homeowners to make a big impact in a short amount of time with a small budget, wall paneling is another way to change the tone of a space. The shadow lines, texture, and detail that paneling provides can transform a standard flat-walled room into a richer environment that exudes an upscale mojo.

Two ways to change the look of any standard wall panel.

The height of the paneling can change the tone of the space. Wall paneling can be traditional and just extend just 36 to 42 inches up the wall. There’s also no reason why you can’t break the rules and go lower or all the way to the ceiling.

Painting the paneling can then further push the drama to another level. While white may be still a popular choice for many homes, there’s no reason why your wall paneling or wainscoting has to be white. A rick black, chocolate, or navy keeps the sophisticated vibe but presents it in a modern way.

There are so many different ways to use wall paneling or wainscoting in a home. I shared a few ideas with BobVila.com. Check out the article below for inspiration.
