Botanicalls gives your plant a way to tell you it needs water

It’s true. For just $1000 your plant can tweet or call you if it’s thirsty.

Spotted by our friends at HomeFixated.com and The New York Times, it’s a device created by NYU that detects moisture and sunlight. Then it tweets or calls you to let you know what it needs. And it can even just let you know it appreciates you, too.

The creators say: “Botanicalls opens a new channel of communication between plants and humans, in an effort to promote successful inter-species understanding.”

I can’t help but agree that it helps promote understanding between us and plants, but until I stumbled upon Botanicalls, my communication gap was so HUGE that I didn’t even realize we needed to work on our communication.

The Museum of Modern Art’s Architecture & Design Acquisition Committee has approved the addition of Botanicalls to the MoMA permanent collection. Botanicalls will join the likes of Eames chairs the BIC pen, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Starry Night.
