After many years fixing and remodeling houses I finally got around to getting a rolling scaffold. Prior to that I used my 4 and 6 foot stepladders with a 2×10 between them as my “staging.”
The system worked–and still does–for near-the-ceiling projects like crown molding, recessed and other lighting, and (may favorite) painting and drywall finishing.
But the ladder/board deal isn’t ideal for everything in large part because it’s not very mobile or versatile. It does what it does well–namely, letting me walk across the board to work at various points–but that’s about it. I need more mobility.
