Life’s little joys: A winter win

I love winter. I do NOT love scraping winter off my windshield though. But I have discovered a tool that makes life easier. And, it’s in the bylaws that I have to share it with you.

SubZero’s Avalanche windshield cleaner thingie is all kinds of awesome.

SubZero’s telescoping scraper/brush/squegee windshield sweep they call the Avalanche is THE BEST thing I have ever used for getting winter off my windshield—a job that is on par with emptying the littler box in my view. Less crap, but more cold.

For starters, it’s long enough. For truck and SUV owners like us, this is a godsend. Filling my jacket sleeve with snow while standing on the tire or step-bumper is done for me (Note: we do not have a 1/2 ton truck or van; still might need to climb up there to reach the middle on a big rig). However, this winter wonder telescopes up to 54-inches. Oh yeah.

Second, is what I call its ‘brush and blade’ design. One one end is the scraper blade that works like the scraper blade on the 8-inch long POS jammed in your door or under your seat. Except you can reach what needs to be scraped. I feel this is kind of the point of the entire exercise.

Anyway, on the other end is a brush/squeegee combo that I love. Not only does it fold flat so the Avalanche can be stored neatly inside the vehicle, it can pull or push heavy, wet snow off the windshield. I prefer the brush side. I also store it like a rifle in the window of my truck. Too much?

Let us know your snow-lutions. We want to hear them. Stay warm. And don’t fall off the tire.
