It use to be thought that kids could only get lead poisoning if they ate big lead flakes, but it turns out that fine dust powder created when demolishing an old room for example, or sanding siding on an old house is the major culprit. Or at least a bigger culprit than otherwise thought before.
Recently, we were told the story of a person whose two — TWO — children are suffering lifelong effects of lead poisoning. They had their house painted and while the painters sanded, the dust blew in and all over the kids’ toys, which they put in their mouths daily, as kids do. No one knew. During a routine physical one had to be rushed to the ER to essentially have their body remediated the lead levels were so high.
