Formica: Rounding Over the Cutting Edge

Formica 180fx Petrified Wood: Wall application.

Formica‘s 180fx laminate is already an awesome product for kitchen and bath counters, plus way-out wall applications that I love.

A laminate product that features a real stone depth, color variation and “movement” (as its called by experts) is an authentic way to bring a unique look to anything from a powder room upgrade to a major kitchen reno to an uber man-cave, delivering a high-end look for a not-so high end price.

However, I suppose you could say that the one drawback the material had—until now—was that it was joined and routed at the edges like all laminates and showed the brown lines between pieces.

Formica 180fx IdealEdge.

With Formica’s new IdealEdge the brown lines are gone and replaced with bullnose or ogee edge profiles and suitable for 90-degree or clipped corners (which, as a parent and a carpenter, I like more than I did when I was just a no-kids carpenter.)

From Petrified Wood—I love this for a wall application—to Blue Storm, the color combinations are vibrant, alive, and powerful which is the combination you need to round over the cutting edge and make it better.
