Four out of six. That’s what we scored on the Outdoor Must-Have Amenities list on ForSaleByOwner.com.
Based on a survey from American Society of Landscape Architects, they picked out the most popular outdoor features that most people want: hard-wired lighting, fire pits/fireplace, dining area, installed seating, counter space, and utility storage.
From that list, Mark and I have actually fixed-up our property to include most of those features: a pergola with dining space, added ceiling fan to our front porch and pergola, added an outlet at the pergola, replace a crumbling fireplace with a firepit, and added storage space under the porch and inside our playset.
We just need to work on built-in seating and counter space. If we added an outdoor bar or kitchen to our backyard, we would have a perfect score and a happier husband. Of course, he has an eye on an outdoor shower and I’d love a fountain. I wonder where those features ended up on the list.
