Today is the start of the Atlantic hurricane season, which lasts until November 30th.The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts a 65 percent chance of an above-normal hurricane season with 6 to 8 hurricanes and 3 to 5 major hurricanes with sustained winds of 111 mph or stronger. 

The World Meteorological Organization’s regional committee–which includes representatives from the National Hurricane Center—released 21 names for tropical storms and hurricanes.

While every 6 years, the lists of names are recycled, some names of severe storms are retired.

Americans spend about $566 on a houseplant during its lifetime. Plus, we spend an average of $74 on houseplants annually, according to CraftJack.

Additionally, nearly two-thirds of those under 40 agree that “pets are the new kids and plants are the new pets.”
