We love a delicious excuse to honor our friends from up North.
So on this Canada Day, also known as Canada’s birthday, we made a special treat.
We thought cake or pie. Then cupcake or cookie. But, no. A treat worthy of Canada gets to the heart of how we think of Canada. And that’s bacon.
So, taking strips of fresh bacon, we wrapped and wrapped until the bacon was about the size of a cupcake. Using a toothpick to secure the bacon in place, it fit neatly inside of a cupcake liner. Adding a candle makes this the perfect birthday treat for Canada or any bacon-loving birthday boy or girl.
And to display the bacon cupcake proudly, we painted an Ikea candle holder red.
