I’m a fan of cable knit. Over the years, I’ve knitted a few cable knit scarves, but never ventured beyond the scarf into these amusing finds.

However, it is surprising to see the pattern replicated on hard surfaces like wall coverings and ceramic items. It feels like an optical illusion. Seeing a pattern so closely associated with softness and snuggly-warmth on an object would create a very different sound when tapped.
Touching the hard-surfaced cable knit items would feel off. The texture, warmth, and enveloping nature of a cable knit is what brings the pattern to life, and creates life from the pattern.
