Cable knit home decor: Amazed & Amused

Create a cozy corner covered in cable knit home finds.

I’m a fan of cable knit. Over the years, I’ve knitted a few cable knit scarves, but never ventured beyond the scarf into these amusing finds.

Seeing other cable knit fans making and sharing images of homemade cable knit-covered chairs, mugs, and lamps on Pinterest is not surprising. However, it is surprising to see the pattern replicated on hard surfaces like wall coverings and ceramic items. It feels like an optical illusion. Seeing a pattern so closely associated with softness and snuggly-warmth on an object would create a very different sound when tapped.

Touching the hard-surfaced cable knit items would feel off. The texture, warmth, and enveloping nature of a cable knit is what brings the pattern to life, and creates life from the pattern.

Putting the hard surface question aside, the idea of enveloping myself in a room of white cable knit luxury sounds divine and a bit indulgent. It sounds like a dream. When paired with a warm mug of deliciousness, a crackling fire, low lighting, and a few good-natured companions.

After admiring the many images on Pinterest, I’ve gathered a few of my favorite cable knit home decor items. There is a mix of soft- and hard-surfaced objects.

Would you embrace the cable knit home decor style in your home?
