Hello. Today I’m talking about fire prevention.

I went to Florida and while I was there I saw my Uncle Rod. He is the Isles of Capri Fire Chief and a police officer.

I went to the fire station and I saw the chief car, the ambulance, fire truck, and the rescue boat.

I interviewed him and this is the interview.

ME: What is your name and title?

Fire chief: My name is Emilio Rodriguez and my title is Fire Chief.

ME: How many guys go to one rescue?

Fire chief: We have five.

ME: How much water can one truck hold?

Fire chief: Our truck holds 750 gallons of water.

ME: What is the turnout gear made of?

Fire chief: The turnout gear is made of nomax. Nomax is a fire retardant clothing.

ME: How heavy is the turnout gear?

Fire chief: Well, the turnout gear is 20 pounds.

ME: How many trucks are in your fire house?

Fire chief: OK, we have 2 engine, 1 rescue truck (ambulance), and 1 brush truck. We also have a fire rescue boat.

ME: Will a candle make a fire if all the wax melts?

Fire chief: It can if you don’t put anything under the candles.

ME: What would you like kids to know?

Fire chief: Always have an escape route. Always have a meeting place.

ME: Do you have any other jobs?

Fire chief: I’m also a part-time police officer.

Well, that’s it. I also tried on the helmet and the coat. It was heavy, but wasn’t at first.
