10 years makes for a lot of fun new features in the Chrysler Pacifica

So does the new 2017 Pacifica meet the needs of a busy DIY family?

We were lucky to try out the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. Jack helped us review the car, and compare it to our 2007 Pacifica.

This post is sponsored by FCA US; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I bought a certified pre-owned Chrysler Pacifica in 2008, when we were expecting our now 8-year-old Jack. I wasn’t ready for a minivan, but I wanted to have the option of that third row seat for when we wanted to go somewhere with more than just our family of four.

The optional 3rd row has been perfect for my family. As DIYers and contractors, we often have large items to transport–from tools to material–and I can just put the third and second row of seats down to accommodate a ton of stuff for work.

So when we were asked to try out the new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, I was over the moon. We are starting to think about a new vehicle. My car is a 2007, and Mark’s truck is older than that. We haven’t had the experience of using push-button starts, touch screens, and Bluetooth while driving around. And it is a big leap into the world of tech cars.

The new 2017 Pacifica is not a wagon like mine. It is now a minivan. While the outside of the two cars are not much different in size, the inside is another story. A decade in the future, the Pacifica is both roomy and quiet. It has more places to put cups and items. The back is deeper and can hold a lot more luggage, and the seats really go all of the way down now. It is easier to transport more inside the new Pacifica. And it is way more cozy at the same time.

We didn’t spend much time on the hi-tech parts of the car, as we were too busy enjoying the sunroof that they call a tri-pane. Unlike cars I have driven in the past, this minivan has a window above each row of seats. As the youngest in my family, I was always the one stuck in the middle in the way back, and I like that the little ones have the option of nature with the tech.

Mark also road-tested the Pacifica and he has different criteria for vehicles than me, so you may want to check out what he thinks, too.

I am still not sure what kind of vehicle we’ll get next. Mark is always fancying previously owned dump trucks and tricked-out work vans, so I will probably keep focusing on the family part of the family fleet. And this Pacifica is the first that has tempted me into the world of minivan status. To that I am extremely impressed.

Jack and I are very happy about having more space in the back for fun stuff.

What’s that? There is so much I can see up there. I love the view in this 2017 Pacifica.

Jack can easily grab what’s stored in the back of the Pacifica. Tons of space and convenient.

I love the tech in this 2017 Pacifica. I bought my 2007 Pacifica as a certified pre-owned vehicle, so I didn’t have option for any tech. Our 8yo thinks it is the coolest part of the car.
Jack Pacifica window shade
The sun shades in the windows are a really nice built-in feature. As a mom, I would have loved to have them when Jack was a baby.
Pacifica Mark backseat
I tried out different seats in the car, just to know what it’s like for our kids and friends.
