October 30, 2010: We’re going door-to-door, delivering you the tips and tools you need to selecting and installing your perfect door.
Special guest Jonathan Sweet, editor from Professional Remodeler magazine HousingZone.com talks with Mark and Theresa about the trends in the remodeling industry. He shares the scoop on how building product companies are trying to provide better resources and services to their pro remodeling clients, and in turn helping homeowners stay happy with the work they are doing on their homes. Professional Remodeler magazine is showcasing the top 20 remodelers in the industry, and is featuring an interview with Sarah Susanka, author of The Not So Big House.
Sara Theis Alcroft from Therma-Tru Doors talks with Mark and Theresa about fiberglass door as a durable, thermally efficient option to a front door. They set up a baseball pitch booth with their fiberglass doors as a backdrop to prove to attendees that their doors won’t dent. They are offering new glass options with privacy levels. Theresa asks about the Ugliest Door Contest and the My Saved Doors. Therma-Tru also offers a Picture Perfect Virtual Designer visualization software where you can upload picture of home and try on door styles. Therma-Tru Doors are available nationwide at building product dealers and Lowe’s home improvement centers.
Theresa shares news about where you can find Mike Holmes on his tour of the United States, and how to enter your home to get help from the cast of Ask This Old House. We’ll also be talking door styles, door hanging tips in the not-so-perfect house, vintage hardware from VintageHardware.com and Waterglass Studios, electronic pet doors from PetDoors.com, and so much more.
Special note for cat lovers, including Theresa: Mark misspoke during this show. He really doesn’t want to guillotine the cats. He admitted after the live show that he sometimes wants to put just one in a pillory. He can’t stand the cat begging for more food. Better, but neither is ever going to happen at the MyFixitUpLife home. Lexi and Theresa wouldn’t allow it.
