Mark installing synthetic slate tiles

July 31: One of the biggest parts to any DIY project is figuring out what to do with the stuff you don’t want. Whether it’s furniture, appliances, or walls, there’s a way to dispose of, recycle, or donate what you don’t want.

Listen to the show!

Today Mark and Theresa share their take on dumpsters, donations, and everything in-between for handling the extra stuff we all create in our homes and jobsites. Mark Hansen from DaVinci Roofscapes shares some insight on how best to dispose of the minimal waste generated by the recylable, synthetically manufactured slate roof tiles that Mark has been installing on their roof this week. Mark also shares information on DaVinci’s recycling program, which utilizes old DaVinci cutoffs to make their starter tiles. For more information, go to www.davinciroofscapes.com.

2010 Stuck at Prom Winners

In Today’s FixItUpFinds, Theresa shares an amazing river rock tile from Stratastones that she’s planning to use as a kitchen backsplash, and they talk with Ray, the winner of Duck Tape’s Stuck at Prom contest. Mark shared news from a recent press event at Milwaukee Tool where he learned about new tools and got a chance to visit the Harley Davidson museum. Today’s guests are Matt Knox, CEO and Johnnie Munger, CTO of DiggersList, a pioneering online construction classifieds company created as a response to the national call to reduce the volume of building materials that are overflowing America’s landfills. With a presence in 31 markets across the United States and growing rapidly, DiggersList.com is a unique fusion of free classifieds and community features that allows contractors, property owners, suppliers and DIY enthusiasts to buy, sell and trade thousands of excess construction materials as well as place competitive bids for jobs and services. DiggersList has partnered with several non-profits and created a special widget for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles County and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. You can follow DiggersList on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. And to help you reach into the pile of unwanted material at your FixitUpHouse, we’re giving away three pairs of Ninja Flex work gloves to one lucky fan.
