From paint prep to power washing to planet-saving, we’re tooled up to help you meet every design challenge on this episode of MyFixitUpLife.

We’re joined by the esteemed enviro-actor-vist Ed Begley, Jr. who walks us through water savings, electric cars, and composting toilets that make the waste inert and odorless so that you can actually put it out in the garden.

HYDE Tools Corey Talbot uncovers unique—and universally useful—tools. Mark & Theresa’s favorite: the 14-in-1 Painter’s Tool that also doubles as a “beverage opener.”

And the hard-working but always glamorous star of Designer’s Challenge and Designed to Sell Lisa LaPorta shares her style tips to make a house into a home. Plus she gives us the scoop on her new outdoor furniture line, her jewelry, and her TV shows.

And if you’re interested in being “that neighbor on the block who owns a pressure washer,” you’ll definitely want to tune in. Mark also shares a great tip–he pairs up his pressure washer with a pivot nozzle wand by HYDE Tools.

Ed Begley, Jr. portrayed Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the long-running hit television series, “St. Elsewhere,” for which he received six Emmy nominations. Since then Ed has moved easily between feature, television and theatre projects. You can find him in “Best In Show,” “Batman Forever”, “The Accidental Tourist” and “The In-Laws.” Ed has directed several episodes of the hit show “NYPD Blue” as well as a play that he wrote called “Cesar and Ruben” that won a Nos Otros Award and four Valley Theater League Awards.

Based in Los Angeles, designer Lisa LaPorta has extensive experience managing projects of all types and sizes, from concept through completion. Her business includes many prominent clients, who appreciate her strong design sense, practicality and ability to listen to their needs. Lisa received her formal training in design from UCLA Department of Environmental Art and Design and has appeared on several HGTV shows including Designers’ Challenge, Designing for the Sexes and Designed to Sell.
