FixitUp Find: CH Hanson ProSharp Trim Pencil and Sharpener

From the “where has this been all my life” file, CH Hanson’s “school boy” trim pencils and ProSharp pencil sharpener are a trim carpenter’s best friend. Accurate with nice “lead” and easy to sharpen these things increase accuracy, decrease frustration, and are easy to keep a point on. I used them on a recent trim project and they made my work better because I could make hyper-accurate marks. Pencils with brittle lead constantly break. Pencils with lead that is too soft leave fat marks. These were ideal for marking everything from an inside right on a 12 foot piece of crown to the cutline of a cope.

And the ProSharp sharpener—which I can use by either by hand OR chuck in my impact driver (…are you kidding me?!?!?! It sharpened pencils like a surgeon)—works great. It’s easy to tuck away somewhere, whether that’s in your tool pouch or at the workbench and it was accurate, fast, and easy to use.

Now, seriously, where have you been all my life?
