Repurpose an old table to build a custom LEGO table

Jack-MyFixitUpLife-LEGO-Architecture

LEGOs have never stopped being a pleasant pastime for me, so I was delighted to help share the how-to for building a LEGO table with BobVila.com.

I remember receiving my first set of LEGOs when I was a little girl. It was a set that came with a large baseplate, trees, and bricks in white, red, yellow, and blue. For hours on end, I’d construct various homes, building on ideas and seeing what each looked like in real life. It’s no wonder I ended up attending architecture school in college.

While I still have that set in my house, it’s now part of our son Jack’s massive LEGO collection. He’s been a builder since he could sit up and play with DUPLO, and has taken on the series of LEGO Architecture and the NASA Apollo Saturn rocket.

So how do you build a LEGO table?

I found this vintage side table at my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It has the internal storage and table space to become a delightful and functional LEGO table.

Building a custom-made LEGO table without a large budget involves upcycling or repurposing a small table. A table can be modified, painted, and LEGO customized with baseplates to make it ready to receive little bricks.

If you are handy with a drill, paint, and utility knife, this project is DIY-doable.
