Ribbon + hoop = Holiday card wreath

I’ve strung up cards across windows, down doorways, and more. There are so many creative ideas to display holiday cards. Here’s a holiday card wreath idea that costs less than $10.

Shopping tip: I used an embroidery hoop, ribbon, and hot glue. You can also use a quilting hoop, as they come in much larger dimensions. And both kinds of hoops are available at most JoAnne’s stores. Plus I always check the front-of-the-store discount bins for deals on ribbon and trimmings.

– Dab glue on the hoop, and place the end of the ribbon diagonally on the glue. You’ll be wrapping diagonally in one direction around the hoop.

– Wrap the hoop, checking for the same ribbon reveal as you go. It’s also important to make sure the ribbon is snug against the hoop.

– When you get to the starting point, either glue the ribbon to secure it or you could take a quick stitch.

– Take another piece of ribbon and tie a bow and hoop to hang it from the wall.

– When you receive holiday cards, punch a hole in the top of the card and string ribbon through to tie to the hoop. If you’d rather not puncture the cards, you can also use clothes pins. A fun idea is to decorate the clothes pins, and you could even make them into reindeer. I think we’ll try that next year.
