Shelter-Kit (based out of Tilton, NH) creates DIY homes, garages and barns, specifically designed and manufactured for assembly by non-builders.
(Think Ikea, but bigger and with better instructions!) Most of their products can be assembled by two people in only 2 to 15 days, and in fact, women make up a majority of their customer base – pretty cool!
Like Connor, there are significant eco-advantages to manufactured homes, and Shelter-Kit’s Green Home Kit is their newest product, and is even greener. It’s been assessed by a certified green building company, so with the Green Home Kit, customers can gain points for a home that is actually green certified.
