Mother Nature knows the most popular design trends for home this year.

Nature-inspired finishes never go out of style, but this year Mother Nature is perfectly on-trend.

If you want the look of a concrete countertop, but without the hassle of making one, take a peek at this Weathered Cement from Formica. Yes, Formica.

I’m always a fan of Mother Nature.

Whenever I’m struggling to pinpoint an idea, or feeling under-the-weather, or just need a mental pause from the busyness of life, she delivers the inspiration, comfort, and relaxation I need.

All good reasons to take our design cues from her centuries of expertise in creating magical, breath-taking vistas, and intimate, detailed nooks. She’s got color palettes for days, and can design to impress and to decompress.

It makes sense that she is inspiring design trends for us to use natural surfaces and textures in our homes. We all have way too much screen time.

While I was at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Vegas, I delighted in seeing a few new patterns from our friends at Formica. Inspired by nature, and bringing that feeling of warmth into our homes.

Another thing I love about these new looks, is the performance. Formica’s new looks is have EliteForm technology which is supreme scratch resistance and durability to stand up to the wear and tear of even our daily life.

So what do you think of the current design trends? Email, share a comment below, or tweet me now.

Timberworks is a unique pattern created by blending strips of different reclaimed wood species, grains and colors. It’s also from the Formica Laminate collection.
Weathered Cement is a softly worn cement look, without the weight of real cement. It’s from the Formica Laminate collection. Ideal for modern apartments, lofts and industrial or open-space concept kitchens.
Neo Cloud is a new addition to Formica Laminate collection. It’s reminiscent of modern quartz looks and features a warm white background balanced by a soft and natural wispy gray vein.
