Maybe I should be embarrassed to say that I’ve had a hole in my living room ceiling for 3 1/2 years. But, I’m really not.
When we were expecting our son, and designing his room, we chose a Murphy Bed for his room. I wanted to max-out the space in our house and be able to offer visitors a full-size bed.
But, we didn’t realize that the Murphy bed was shipping as a unit larger than our staircase would allow, until it had already shipped.
So as Mark walked up and down the stairs with his tape measure, trying to figure out how he could tilt or flip it to fit up the stairs, I watched with my big pregnant belly on the couch and just pointed up. “I think it needs to go up, between the joists.”
We hadn’t finished the floor in Jack’s room, and we hadn’t even started on the living room, so we weren’t going backwards, too much, by making the hole.
And I decided three holiday seasons ago that we should celebrate our home improvement lifestyle. Why not hang our toolbelts for Santa, and decorating the hole for the holidays?
