Up on the block: Tubs & Shoes

HGTV Dream Home Master Bath

Mark says I always bring everything we talk about back to shoes.

Perhaps that is true.

Whether it’s home furnishings, building products, tools, clothes, dessert, or anything else I consume in the world, I admire its colors, form, and texture.

And, just like Kris Malkoski, GM from Craftsman, said recently to me, “Shoes are to women, as tools are to men.” So true, Kris.

So when Mark and I had the unique opportunity to preview the HGTV Dream Home just before Thanksgiving, it isn’t a stretch to consider the following. While the home is glorious and beautiful, when I walked into the master bathroom and I saw the bathtub, my mind went straight to a shoe I saw in recent Lucky magazine.

The bathtub in the HGTV Dream Home is set on top of wooden ‘feet.’ It’s a perfect idea for a stylish home that includes special touches from its earthy setting in the Green Mountain state. (The house’s closest neighbor really is the Stowe Mountain Resort.)

I was already thinking about acquiring the shoes from United Nude that use a wooden block instead of the typical heel.  The HGTV Dream Home bathtub just gave me another reason for these shoes to join the ranks inside my closet.
