FixitUpFinds: Paper countertop?

paper countertop

We labored over the decision about our countertop. There are just so many options. We did want to use a producer that is eco-friendly,

Richlite Black Diamond Countertop

kid-friendly, and fits in with our ‘Formal Farmhouse’ mojo.

Mark and I finally decided on a paper composite product called Richlite that’s been around since 1943. Made primarily of paper purchased from FSC-Certified sources and/or recycled paper. The paper is treated with resin then pressed and baked to create solid sheets that have a solid color all the way through. The same material has been used for decades by the aerospace industry for tooling, the marine industry for fiberglass reinforcement and the action sports industry for outdoor skate ramp surfaces.

The National Sanitation Foundation, which sets standards for food service-related products has certified Richlite Natural for use as cutting boards with direct food contact in restaurants. It’s also GREENGUARD certified for indoor use in residential, school and institutional environments, and contribute to LEED points and are approved by the Rainforest Coalition. Average Richlite installations cost around $90-per-square-foot.

And in honor of Mark’s passion for skiing that he hasn’t indulged enough since we’ve become parents, we chose the Black Diamond . To find a dealer visit www.richlite.com
