My sliding glass door has a gap. Let’s fix it.

Is there a gap between your patio door and frame? It’s an easy fix.

I like to do a few extra checks around the house every year when we’re doing our spring cleaning. Beyond changing the batteries in smoke detectors and changing HVAC filters, the list includes checking caulk, window weatherstripping, and gaps around doors and windows.

If your sliding glass door has a gap between your patio door and the frame around it, it’s a fix that just requires two tools and less than 10 minutes.

Here’s the sliding glass door how-to

With a screwdriver and a putty knife or chisel, you will be able to make an adjustment to how the door sits inside the frame.

Step 1.

At the bottom of an Inovo Simonton patio door, there are two little caps covering screws. Using the putty knife or chisel pry off the little caps. The screw heads will now be exposed.

Step 2.

Then using your screwdriver slowly turn the screw and watch the door in the frame. You’ll see the door move, and quickly you’ll see which way the door moves when you move the screw right or left.

Step 3.

When you see the gap disappear and the reveal is equal along the frame, cover the screw heads. And you are done.

I like the efforts you have put in this, appreciate it
for all the great articles.

Our back door doesn’t seem to have those screws anywhere that I can see. Any other tip to help fix the gap? The door should probably be replaced but it’s a rental house so our landlord probably won’t be doing that any time soon. But I feel like it’s letting out AC and letting bugs in more.
