Images of succulent gardens are raging on social media, but is it an in-real-life trend?
I’ve been reading about succulents and interviews with growers and sellers, and the popularity of the fun-shaped thick-leaved beauties is real. So the #succulents on Instagram that’s ranking at about 2.5 million posts is reflecting our reality of obsession.
So why? The little desert plants are hard to kill and are available in a huge variety of colors and sizes. The combination is ideal for anyone who loves nature, wants to use a plant in an unusual way, and doesn’t want to commit a lot of time to keeping the succulent garden alive.
Experts say that you may be more likely to hurt them by overwatering, keeping the soil wet, or not provide enough drainage for the plant. Those leaves are so thick and ‘succulent’ because that’s where the plant holds on to the water.
Succulent gardens also love sunshine, so whether you are make wall art or do a little indoor garden box, make sure it has access to about 6 hours of sunshine every day.
Below are some of my favorite images of succulents from Pinterest. Yes, there are succulent wedding cakes, succulent nail art, and succulent home decor that definitely make me smile.
