Sunroom makeover MyFixitUpLife

Designers, design publications, and building product companies are weighing in on their predictions for 2022’s interior design trends.

The design trend predictions include enjoyable catchy phrases and colorful language that inspires me to makeover several rooms in my home. Still, there are a few themes that keep appearing among the experts.

Natural materials and inspiration from nature

There’s a focus on nature from almost every source I’ve encountered so far. I’m not surprised. The typical American spends about 90 percent of our time indoors. Since the pandemic began, most of those hours are spent indoors at home.

Forest bathing, visiting national parks, biophilic design, farm-to-table, and aromatherapy are all surging in popularity. From colors to textures and shapes, most every design prediction list includes inspiration from nature or natural materials.

Vibrant colors and patterns

Oh the white kitchen that has been so popular is now fading in its appeal to design experts. Many predict white and griege will be replaced by bold colors, vibrant colors, expressive patterns, and other statement-making elements. The design goal is to show off personality and glow-up a space. It’s expected to be on-trend for 2022.

Multipurpose and gathering spaces

A popular prediction are spaces that are welcoming to guests and also used for other activities when it’s just the family. Some predict a focus on gathering spaces indoors and some are predicting a continuation of updating the outdoor space trend. And 85 percent of experts asked by Fixr survey believe that homeowners are now more willing to invest in outdoor living than before the pandemic.
